Recording audio for 360° and VR video
Spatial audio completes immersion. In VR, viewers turn their heads, so sound should come from the right direction. Ambisonic microphones record a full sphere of sound that VR players rotate together with the picture.
A-format vs B-format. Ambisonic capsules record A-format, which is converted to B-format for editing and playback; some recorders decode on board, others need software.
Mounting: place the microphone directly above or below the camera, aligned with its front, to keep sound and picture in sync.

- Connect the XLR breakout to a 4-channel recorder.
- Enable P48.
- Align with the camera front.
Care and maintenance
Keep it clean and dry, store it away from direct sunlight and heat, and inspect it for wear before use. Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; do not use solvents.
