NexusDrive DD18 Pro: overview

The NexusDrive DD18 Pro is a 18 Nm direct drive wheel base for PC sim racing. It is the flagship of the NexusDrive DD range, with 18 Nm from a custom 5-pole, ultra-low inertia servo motor with zero-cogging technology.

A 21-bit encoder, advanced control algorithms and active cooling reproduce road texture, kerbs, tyre slip and weight transfer, and the CNC aluminium housing handles heavy daily use.

It belongs to an open ecosystem: it takes standard quick-release adapters (QR50, QR70 and the USB QR adapter for third-party wheels), and side or bottom mounting, so it fits most cockpits. Torque, damping and response are tuned in the configuration software.

Features in detail

18 Nm direct drive

It is the flagship of the NexusDrive DD range, with 18 Nm from a custom 5-pole, ultra-low inertia servo motor with zero-cogging technology.

Open quick release

QR50, QR70 and USB QR adapter for third-party wheels.

Side or bottom mounting

Fits wheel decks, side-mount kits and plates.

Software tuning

Torque, damping and response profiles.

USB and Type-C

Simple connection to PC.

Compatibility

PC. Mount with the side mounting bracket on a wheel deck, the NexusMount 2-way side-mount kit or NexusMount side-mount plates on aluminium rigs.

Wheels: NexusWheel GT Carbon, NexusHub X builds and third-party 50/70 mm PCD wheels with the USB quick release adapter. Pedals: NexusPedal sets connect through the base.

Building a sim racing or flight setup

Base, rim and pedals. In a modular setup the wheel base holds the force feedback motor, the rim clips on with a quick release and the pedals connect to the base or by USB. Rims and pedals must suit your base, and the base decides which platforms are supported.

Direct drive. Direct drive bases attach the rim straight to the motor for the most detailed and strongest feedback. They need a rigid cockpit or a strong desk mount.

Load cell pedals. A load cell brake measures pressure, not travel, like a real car. It is the single upgrade that improves lap-time consistency the most.

Setup and use

  1. Mount the base on your rig.
  2. Fit a quick release and your wheel.
  3. Connect USB and power; install the configuration software.
  4. Set torque, damping and rotation for your sim.

Care and maintenance

Keep the cooling vents clear and check mount bolts regularly. Update firmware through the software.
