Sim rig side support kit: overview

This sim rig side support kit adds an extra 80x40 mm aluminium profile structure to the side of your cockpit, giving you a solid place to mount a shifter, handbrake, flight sim controls or any add-on that needs more support than the main frame offers on its own.

It is made for straight-profile extruded aluminium rigs and DIY T-slot builds. The anodised profiles are lightweight but stiff, so extra devices stay put under load and the rig gains rigidity at the same time.

Everything needed to fit it is in the kit: two profile lengths (350 mm and 666 mm), the brackets and the mounting hardware.

Features in detail

80x40 mm aluminium profiles

Two anodised 80x40 mm profiles, 350 mm and 666 mm long, create a side structure that matches the size of the main uprights on most extrusion rigs.

Anodised finish

Anodising makes the aluminium hard-wearing and corrosion resistant. This kit comes in a blue anodised finish that buyers describe as a striking accent on a black rig.

Extra stability

Mounting heavy or high-force devices on a dedicated support stops them from flexing the main frame, which keeps inputs precise.

Complete installation kit

Brackets and hardware are included, so you can install it straight away with standard hex keys.

Expandable

Because it is standard slotted profile, you can bolt further brackets and mounts to it later.

Compatibility

Designed for straight-profile aluminium rigs such as the NexusRig Titan and other high-end extrusion rigs, plus DIY T-slot cockpits. It is not intended for the NexusRig Rookie, Sprint and Vanguard cockpits; for those, use the universal side chassis support in our rig accessories.

Devices you can mount on it include shifters, handbrakes, flight sim control mounts and accessory brackets. Check the hole pattern of your device or its mount.

Mounting on aluminium profile rigs

The 8 mm slot standard. Most modern sim rigs use 40 mm-based aluminium extrusion (40x40, 40x80, 40x160) with 8 mm slots. Mounts fix with M8 bolts and T-nuts that slide into the slot, so they can be moved and re-angled at any time.

Rigidity and access. Mount heavy or high-force devices (handbrakes, shifters, wheel bases) as close to a vertical upright or cross member as possible. Leave room to get in and out of the seat.

Tools. A set of hex keys (mainly 6 mm for M8) covers nearly every mount. Snug every bolt, test, then do a final tightening once the position is right.

Setup and use

1. Plan where the support should go so you can still get in and out of the seat easily.
2. Slide T-nuts into the rig's slots and attach the brackets loosely.
3. Fit the profiles to the brackets and square everything up.
4. Tighten all bolts, then mount your shifter, handbrake or flight controls on the new profile.
5. Sit in and test; fine-tune positions and do a final tightening.

Care and maintenance

Check the bolts every few weeks if you use a heavy handbrake or shifter on it. Clean the anodised surface with a soft damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the finish.

Large items such as cockpits, seats and monitor stands can ship in several boxes, customs or public holidays can occasionally add a few days, and some items ship directly from our supplier.

Returns

You have 14 days from delivery to return the product for a refund, for any reason. It must be new, unused and in its original packaging with all accessories and documents. Contact us at metanexusxr@gmail.com with your order number to start the return.

Warranty

Products bought from our store are covered by a 2-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. If anything goes wrong, email us your order number and a short description or photo and we will handle the claim with you.
