NexusRig Rookie: overview

The NexusRig Rookie is our best-value, entry-level aluminium sim racing cockpit – and it grows with you. The base is 40x40 mm aluminium profile with 80x40 uprights, joined with heavy-duty black anodised 90-degree brackets and side-mounted wheel uprights for rigidity.

Laser-cut carbon steel plates carry your peripherals: a rigid, fully adjustable wheel plate for belt-drive and direct drive wheels, and thick carbon steel pedal mounts that take hundreds of kilograms of braking force in a flat, high or angled position.

It is pre-drilled for the popular wheels and pedals, and with over 30 add-ons – shifter and handbrake mounts, seat slider, monitor stands, speaker and bass shaker mounts – it expands as you do.

Who the nexusRig Rookie is for

Drivers starting out:

  • First cockpit buyers on a budget
  • Belt-drive and entry direct drive users (up to about 10 Nm)
  • Drivers who plan to upgrade step by step

Features in detail

Aluminium profile frame

40x40 base, 80x40 uprights, thick walls.

Rigid wheel plate

Fully adjustable, for belt and direct drive.

Carbon steel pedal mounts

Flat, high or angled; pre-drilled for major brands.

Side-mounted uprights

Heavy-duty brackets for rigidity.

30+ add-ons

Compatibility

Wheels: most belt-drive and direct drive bases from Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, MOZA, Simagic and others via the wheel plate (recommended up to about 10 Nm).

Pedals: pre-drilled for the major brands.

Seats: bucket seats with side brackets or recliners with seat brackets (not included).

Choosing and building a sim rig

Rigidity first. A cockpit exists so the force your wheel base produces goes into your hands, not into a flexing frame. Direct drive bases need a stiff front mount; aluminium profile rigs (40 mm and 80 mm extrusion with 8 mm slots) are the stiffest and most adjustable, while steel tube rigs are lighter and quicker to assemble.

Driving position. GT position puts you upright with the pedals low; formula position reclines the seat and raises the pedals. Check whether the cockpit, seat bracket and pedal mount allow the position you want.

Plan the extras. Monitor stands, shifter and handbrake mounts, keyboard trays and PC shelves bolt onto most profile rigs. Planning them up front avoids drilling or re-assembling later.

Setup and use

  1. Assemble the frame.
  2. Fit the seat with brackets (and an optional slider).
  3. Mount the wheel base and pedals.
  4. Adjust and tighten.

Care and maintenance

Check bolts after the first week and monthly; wipe the profile with a damp cloth.
